The dachshund is first and foremost a hunting breed – the hunt created the breed. At a field trial a brace of dogs is put down on a scent line of hare or rabbit and are judged on the quality of their work on the scent line. The dachshund should never just run haphazard, but display efficient actions with an intense enthusiasm for hunting.
Dachshund Field Trials are held in different areas of the country. The AKC website has an events section: www.akc.org/events/field_trials/dachshunds/ |
